Playstation Network Ban Info

22 replies 11146 views Edited Jun 5, 2010

if you were banned you most likely received this code: 8002A231 now this code states you have been suspended and the time varies, here are the times

24 Hours - 3 Months

the average time of suspension is 1 Week and 1 Month

if you have revieved this code: 8002A227, this means you have been Permanently Banned.

I contacted sony today and this is what they told me.

if you have received the first code please call this number for more information

1-866-286-5123

The Sony Team That Specializes In Suspension can only be contacted Monday through Friday

For what reasons do they suspend or ban people?

For example, "Cheating" is defined by the Sony link as "Doing or utilizing anything that gives the player a greater advantage than is intended for normal game play". So, hypothetically speaking, someone who sets up a Warhawk server and stacks one side so that it has 10-12 players and then kicks any reasonable competition on the other side (leaving it with 2 or 3 players) would be cheating and subject to a possible ban. Alternatively, someone who, in the same circumstance, permits several players to switch to the same team so that they can outnumber the other team 10-12 to 2 and rack up uncontested points is cheating.  Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Of course that is just hypothetical.  I'm sure that anyone who would cheat in such a manner would not repeat his actions as soon as that ban is lifted, that would just be a dream, a fantasy if you will.  Of course the behavior would be modified to ban people, that he is afraid to play against despite having both numerical and base advantages, during intermission instead of in-game to avoid detection.  I would love to stay and chat but I've got to head to brunch.  Maybe Crystal will be there.
