Playstation 3 & Eye Toy Alternatives?

3 replies 267 views Edited Nov 15, 2012

I have 3 Eye Toy Cameras for my PS3, but they all support 3 things...

1.) Full Screen Resolution...

2.) Wide Screen Resolution...

3.) Certain ones also Support a Motion Capturable Improvement...

But all in all...

1.) We all know that EyE Of Judgement is SD Resolution...

2.) Eye Toy Camera Video Editor is I believe SD Resolution only...

3.) Sports Champions 1 is 1080i Reslution...

4.) Sports Champions 2 is 720P Resolution...

Point is, the Camera doesn't support up to some of the Higher Resolutions...

So my Question is, is there any possible Alternatives to this? In order to reach Higher Resolutions up to 1080P?

Anyone?

Short verions.... NO (Proprietary Tech, lock down)

And get a HDTV with an info button......

...... they tell you the resolution..... so you don't have to guess.

Long version in the spoiler...

Spoiler

There is no Eyetoy for PS3.

Its called Playstation EYE, The camera is a standard web camera lense, 640x480 pixels, 60Fps with software focus controll (the Eye toy required manual focus) and software brightness controll, with 4 directional mics...and a USB ident to show its the EYE camera. (Proprietary Tech, lock down)

The EYETOY won't work with software drivers for PS EYE, PS EYE USB drivers were not gerneric and PC users took time to find some ones to coded to it...

Eye create software runs in 720p. but the viewing of video is upscaled when video is displayed full screen..

When software says PS EYE support there is no other camera supported...

Now When software says gerneric camera support you can use another camera.

The XMB does have a gerneric USB web camera driver, so you could use another camera for some features like 6 way web video web chat but upload bit rate is still fixed, get to complex and you will have an expensive Paper weight... of a camera... as the drivers Can't be installed.

But if you have a PC you can alway use Skype and if you don't, Dual core PCs are about $100 on Ebay.... but getting 6 screens of Video on a 10inch screen and it starts to look small... So you might want a Bigger Screen size laptop...

Im on linux kubuntu 12.10.

So use GUVCViewer and Kdenlive for video apps.

The PS Eye USB camera driver has been coded in to linux for a while.
