Playstation 3 Wifi question

6 replies 18 views Edited Dec 14, 2010

How great is ps3 wifi?  I have an old ps3 (MGS 4 budle rip off **bleep**)  and when I try to connect to hotspots around my campus, it doesnt pick up as much as my laptop does.  When I got to my friends house, it doesnt pick up as much as my friends slimline 360 either.  He can connect but its horribly laggy, but if the signal strenght is below a certain % (idk the %) it wont connect to it what so ever.

So whats the deal?

Depends on the distance; From PS3 to the router. If its above 40%, you can connect but lag is involved all the time. If it's 60%+, then you'll get good connection.

Signal strength means nothing without good Signal-to-noise ratio. You could have 90% signal on your PS3 but with excessive noise you cannot connect.

Anyways, look into getting a network bridge. They can help.
