Sony has updated their PlayStation App for iOS and Android to version 1.60, the first update we've seen since it released in November.
New features include:
- The [Live from PlayStation] feature has been added.
- Playback of video in notifications from PS Store is now supported. These notifications appear under [What's New].
- This app will no longer automatically connect to a PS4™ system that is in standby mode.
- Stability has been improved.
Here's a preview of the [Live From PlayStation] mobile streaming
No longer connect to ps4 in standby? Uhhhhh very curious... Why the downgrade?
Yeah, I was curious about that as well. I'm thinking it just means it won't automatically turn on your PS4 if it's in standby, which I've had happen in the past when I opened the app.
Also, my first criticism is that the [Live from PlayStation] section only shows a thumbnail of the feed. If you click on it, it kicks you out of the app and into your mobile browser to watch.
My mom has an old one sitting there though. It's outdated and in need of an update but it requires windows 7 computers and the one in my house isn't compatible. Oh well /o\
Evan: Omg sorry for making you appologize
Canadian PS store: Oh, did it look like I was prompting you for an appology? Sorry about that
Evan: Nuuuuuu, its not like that! I'm sorry for making you think like that :c
Canadian PS store: I'm sorry for being stupid, senpai. It's just... I just want you to notice me ;-;
Evan: Sorry that I didn't notice you D:
Canadian PS store: Sorry for not being noticeable D:
Evan: sorry for making you say sorry so much D:
Canadian PS store: Sorry as well D:
*Narrarator: As evan and Canadian PS store applogize, a storm brews on the other side of NA, consisting of non-canadians and americans
Already seeing a really huge step up in stability, particularly in load times for message lists, etc.
Should also reiterate that "no longer automatically wakes up ps4 in standby" means just that, that it's not automatic. Willing to bet that, if you attempt a manual connection, that it will wake up. I'll test when I get home.
