There are certian "App's" like Netflix, Vudu & a couple of others available for the PS3, but the Vita is the "main" platform for "App's" with things like Skype, Facebook & Youutube etc.

Exzcuse my ignorance but what's ftp?

ftp stands for File Transfer Protocol.

It's mainly used by "webmasters" for uploading/downloading files between your puter and a website host. There are other uses for it, but I think that's what most people use it for.

I haven't heard of anyone using ftp on the ps3. But there is a media server "app" on the XMB, that you can use to stream/download media files from your pc to the ps3. Details for the media server are in the manual.

Sure is.... its called a media server. You install it on the computer(s) you want so share media from, and the PS3 will detect it (if setup properly)

The best Media Server program to use is either PS3 Media Server or TVersity
