I had the same thing but only when I LOAD ANY GAMES. I went on Netflix on my PS3 and it worked which means the problem is not within the ps3 itself cuz i see the whole menu things. Firstly, I bought 4 hdmi cables from 4 to 40 $ latest versions 1.3 ... apparently each of them is still gives No Signal then SUDDENLY after waiting 20mins the image its showing . But still 20min waiting is ridiculous, usually it has to show the image at least less than 2 secs. Secondly, Me and My friend lended our PS3 even thought its not the same model, we all updated our PS3. He tried my ps3 and it worked fine for a1 week but when i tried his at my house it still caused the same problem : NO SIGNAL while loading any games even KILLZONE3. Third, I connected my ps3 to a LCD Samsung that worked fine after playing 6hours straight and playing it the next morning, and it showed the image of the game loading in 1 sec while using all of the 4 HDMI cabled I used.
So in my conclusion : I do no think its the PS3 problem , nor the cables ..... so its the LED TV PROBLEM
join the club...and no that trick is not going to work because I tried it . Aparently nobody has a PROPER SOLUTION for it on the internet.
1 . The hold the button for 2 sec to hear the 2 beeps is not going to help permantely since i tried it many times
2 . nor changing the HDMI cables
the only proper solution is call the TV Company in order to arrange a technician to come to your place and hope you still have your garantee and all. If that doesnt really work call the place where you bought your tv and they can send their technician ( the place you bought it better be a huge corporation or else the small company won't help you at all). If the problem is still happening during the same week, you rather give it back to them in exchange for a new one for the same model OR exchange for a LCD Tv that has a bit of the same specs.
why did you post in a 2 year old thread.....

Same problem. Had the PS3 hooked up to a 1080p computer monitor with HDMI. Now it's on a lower-res TV and no signal. The TV's menu display is distorted when HDMI is active, though, so my guess is that the PS3 is feeding the TV a signal it can't handle. But no amount of power-cycling of PS3 or TV has gotten it to reset.
How, in 2011, does this kind of massive defect persist? One of the benefits of HDMI is that a computing device can query the display. Sony's not aware of this? The PS3 doesn't work with Panasonic plasma TVs? BS!

i have been experiencing this same problem also. Tried all the above too, whats wierd though is that it only does this from time to time on my girlfriends tv. if i pack it all up, take it home plug it into my tv it works. if i then pack it all up take it back to hers and plug it in it will work. a week or so later it loses the hdmi signal again! i repeat the above and it works!! i have no logical explanation other than the fact that mine is the old 40G model and is probably on its last legs! maybe trying this might do the same for you.

i really hate my PS3 right now. i have tried EVERYTHING. i cannot get my PS3 (1st gen) to hook up to my TV. it has hooked up before, but EVERY TIME i hook it up to my dads tv, then try to plug it back into mine, it DOESNT WORK. EVERY SINGLE TIME. i have tried every single reset, i found my RCA connection and plugged it in with the cable it came with, BOTH HD outputs on my TV AND PS3 work, my HD CABLE WORKS. but i cant get my ps3 to plug into MY TV with HDMI.
i have tried EVERY SINGLE TRICK IN THE BOOK! i'm so close to throwing my PS3 out the window and getting a 360.
how can i get my ps3 to hook up to my TV?
PLEASE SOMEONE HAVE THE ANSWER!!!!!!! IVE BEEN GOING THROUGH FROM FORUM TO FORUM TRYING TO FIX THIS. I AM SO DONE WITH MY PS3!

Hi all,
I solved this issue doing the following:
As many of you, I have had my PS3 good and everything was nice, when I decided to try the AV video on some old TV.
Later I switched back to my HDTV and got it working, but the next day I got "no signal" in the HDMI input and started to wondering what happenned, If I try AV it works nice, but not even the press-the-power-button-for-5-seconds trick could solve this.
After going here I saw I was not alone on this issue and tried some luck with the following:
1) Turn on your HDTV and use the AV output to see it has turned on.
2) After seeing it started good, turn it off and after the power led has gone red, go and unplug it from the outlet wall and disconnect the AV cable from the PS3 and press the power button (in the console) many times, like 3 times.
3) Make sure the HDMI cable is connected and the TV is ON on this next step.
3) Wait like 15 seconds, press the power button again and plug it again to the outlet, then wait for the PS3 to turn on and the PS3 will auto detect the HDMI (like it's supposed to) and everything will be fine.
This was my solution for the problem, the thing with pressing the button when the PS3 turned off is that many electronical stuff remain charged even while the console has been plugged out and you need to press the power button to discharge them, and then wait 15 seconds for the other components to discharge.
Don't know if the issue will repeat tomorrow but for now I'm happy.

What worked for me was going into system settings (in analog view, with the hdmi off) and restoring the default settings, it always seems to work for me. Email me a XDmaniac@yahoo.com if you have a question, as I'll most likely check that more

Ok. the issue is with the system default settings easy fix. plug your hdmi cable in your. PlayStation and the Jack in your tv. be sure to put on hdmi 1 or 2 Hold the power button for seven seconds until you hear the SECOND BEEP THEN RELEASE answer question problem solved
