Dont know what to say but if not hold down the button to reset the OS system display then you might want to call sony and get the to walk you through it .

This is how you do it .

PS3 is in standbye mode RED Light is on.

Ok hold the button the ( hole time ) at first you will hear it beep once  when it turns on 

it will beep the second time 5 seconds later (Keep hold It)

and then it will beep the thrid time with in another 5 seconds 

keep pushing the button the entier time untill it shuts it self of into standby mode

i had the same problem and this is what i did. go to the side of your ps3 and remove the harddrive. just remove the blue screw then slide your harddrive out. clean out andy dust or trap dirt around there and it should be good again. my buddy and i both had this problem and this is how we got it back to normal

My playstation 3 had the same problem except it works for av cables. My computer is hooked to the same monitor my playstation 3 was on yet it worked perfectly with the computer. I sent it in to geek squad and after 1 hour and a half trying everything, the even tried component cables, it still didn't work. It turned out to be that my monitor could communicate with the Ps3, but couldn't get through, so I have to buy a new monitor. Maybe it's the same thing with you? Even if Ps2 works, again my computer works on it as I'm on it right now, It's just until recently has the Ps3 not been working on it.

my ps3 is doing the same thing but there's no picture showes up at all. my system doesn't make the beebs sounds you guys say it suppose to make. it beeps just not in the right pattern

I'm having the same problem. Only difference is it does it right after an update. I updated about 2 months ago and i had to switch from HDMI to AV intill I set my sitting to HDMI again. This time I can't get a picture from the AV cables or my HDMI.

I've done it myself holding it in workd then i tried to plug the HDMI back in now its now displaying despite holding the button in with or without the HDMI cable so what now??
