Connect it for what purpose? For the laptop to serve as a monitor?

connect how?  I mean, for what purpose?  To view on display, or to record?

Either way, with any PC, you'd need a video input port or capture card of some sort.

most laptops do not have a video input.  it'd be nice, especially with many coming with HDMI ports now, it'd be awesome if the HDMI were input as well as output.

You can install a media server on your laptop (or if one is already installed, just set it up).  Using the media server on your laptop, you can stream and copy videos to your PS3.  That is done over a network, so you can use ethernet or wifi.

What DLNA do you have on your laptop?  Is it a specific program?

You can buy expresscard video input cards. But they'll usually have a delay of 2-3 seconds I think.

Don't know about the laptops but I have a viao pc with video in and gigapocket software that works just fine. Granted its limited resolution playing high def games. If your laptop has hdmi in or video in and it's a VIAO you should be able to record and play games on your monitor. That is what I'm doing on the VAIO PC using the software and TV tuner, the only downside of my setup is the resolution being limited to 480i (i think). MW2 is still fun to play and record!
