I have tried downloaded games, disc games, netflix and the playstation store and they all go to a black screen after i select them. I just bought AC3 and i really want to play it. I have a 160 GB playstation fat.

Ps3 games, most of them dont support 1080p at all. All systems will play in 1080p. The graphic card in ps3 is better with 720p resolutions on most games. However 720p bluray seems to be just as good as 1080p dvd as the other console uses. More power graphic cards equal more over heating issues. Sony was wise to use a small graphic processing unit. Just dont say im wrong cause if you think your getting 1080p your not. Your tv blows up a 720p signal to fit the screen. In return it looks crappy, unless you play the games in native 720p on a tv or set your 1080p tv to only use the native signal. 1266x720p on a 1920x1080p tv will not fill the entire screen. The native of most ps3 games will not fill a entire 1080p surfaced tv which makes it a rectangle display in the center of the screen. Trust me though when you get used to looking at it. Its the best way to play them. Final fantasy 13's are native 1080p games though. dead space 2 is as well.

you might want to try changing your display settings on the ps3 older models of hdtvs do not support the 1080p and that causes the black screen so select everything but the 1080p

You have absolutely NO idea what you're even talking about.
