PS3 - Wireless - Slow Downloads

71 replies 2618 views Edited Mar 19, 2007
Hi all,

I have Optimum Online Cable here in NJ.  My speeds are pretty darn fast.  Talking up to 15MB down 2MB up.

I have a Netgear Wireless Router WGR614 v6.  My PS3 has NAT 2 connection.  Are there any specific ports I should open or any settings I should deal with?  When I download anything off the PS Store it is super slow.  I am talking about 1-2 hours to download a 300-400MB demo.  I do have a WEP Connection.  Please shoot me some settings to check.

I don't want to run a cable from my PC room to my living room reason I got a 60GB was for this capability.

Can anyone give me any settings to check.

Wireless signals degrade as you get further from the access point...

is it possible to relocate the access point at all? There's really no "setting" you can change to boost the signal, but if you don't want to rewire your AP closer to the PS3, I'd recommend either checking Google, there ARE manuals out on the internet on how to build contraptions that can send/receive the signal better than the bare hardware, (imagine a tin-foil satellite dish) or you could always just buy a repeater.

I am 15 feet from the access point and signal strength is always 98% above

I agree with you. I have like 95% and my wireless PS3 downloads are slow.Even before I went wirless, it seemed slow. I have optimum HSI also.My CPU's  are fast. I just think Sony needs to address there servers. I actually work for my ISP and checked the plant anyway. I think its Sony.
