PS3 WON'T PLAY BURNED DVD?

89 replies 14926 views Edited Sep 2, 2007
Hello Guys, I was wondering If you could help me.

I recently bought a PS3 and when I insert a DVD which I have burned I go to the video section on the main menu and no disc is available. The icon in the top right hand corner just keeps turning around constantly. I tried some of you advice by turning off the switch at the back and loading it up again but still it wont play. I expected them to play on PS3 becuase they work on a DVD and PS2.I would be greatful if someone could give me some advice.

Thanks a lot Conor

There must be a reason as to why it does it. I am sure it can be solved if a PS2 can play it why cant a PS3. There must be codec or something.

I've had this problems too.  Could it be because it is a burned DVD?   I attached an old dvd player and it worked perfect.  Could it be  a copyright issue?  Will the PS3 play copyrighted content via HDMI?

First post here...hi everyone!

Anyway, it's probably because Sony is one of (if not THE) biggest movie studios in the world. They don't want there movies being pirated so they try to limit it wherever possible. However, to assume that anyone who has a PS3 doesn't also have a DVD player is a little absurd.

Trying to circumvent the copy protection in the machine would not be wise.

EDIT: I have not yet tried to play any burned DVD's on my PS3...I'm just taking your word for it that it doesn't work.

I never tried...
But I gave up trying to play DVDs on my ps3, because the screen becomes green-ish
It's weird.
But that's only when using HDMI. When using composite cables, the DVD runs fine.

some devices don't read certain burnable discs, for example my pc doesnt read sony brand discs but has no problem with most other kinds

I Burnt It with ConvertX To Dvd, anyone know any programs which will work on PS3 that burns DVDs. But I am sure there is a codec or something to get it to work.
