PS3 Slim 120 GB having serious issues

4 replies 247 views Edited Jul 21, 2013
Ok, so my slim PS3 is having serious issues. First of all, within the past week now, I put a disc in the PS3 and it reads it, and shows it on the XMB. However, the blue light above the eject button is not lit, despite the disc being in. **bleep**? This is only one of my problems (BTW, MW2 is currently in there, PS3 is off).

Now here's the part where I'm concerned. MW2 froze, and the power button would not respond, despite even holding it for ten seconds. So I unplug it. Then I plug it back in, already aware that the "file system is corrupted bla bla bla.." error will come up from incorrectly shutting it down, no-brainer. So I let it do this. And it finishes. But stays at a black screen. Power button won't respond again. I unplug, and replug again. I decide to go into Safe Mode. I try Restore File System option. It finishes. PS3 boots up, I'm prompted to send an error report, and I get redirected to "file system is corrupted etc..." so I do it one final time. It completes and stays at the **bleep** black screen again. I need help! What is wrong?! I'll be looking for answers tomorrow because I'm going to sleep.

But please people, try to help.
My console is 3 years old, 120 GB Slim, firmware version 4.46, no mods or hacks.
AND I SWEAR, I DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY SA2B CHAO GARDEN DATA, IT WAS HARD TO GET THESE BEAUTIFUL CHAO :'(

Edit: I forgot to mention that there are many discs that the PS3 will bring up error codes, including 8001002B, 80010006, 80010017, and 80010514. Yet some of these discs are in mint condition

Error Codes:
8001002B- Dirty or Damaged disc
80010006- Issue Accessing file
80010017- Issue loading Game
80010514- Issue reading discs

Your console's reading lens must have burned out. You'll either need to send it in for repair, open it up yourself and fixing it or a last resort should be to purchase a new ps3.

You should do a backup of your saved files and any other files you want to keep.

Yeah, it seems your lens is burned out. Don't bother fixing it, just buy a new Super slim PS3. If you can though, back up your game date first.

I actually opened the PS3 today, and took a look at the lens in the blu-ray drive. I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip and the thing works like new! Also, there was one ribbon cable outside of the blu-ray drive that wasn't connected, so I reconnected it. I turn the PS3 on, put LBP2 in, and now the blue light above eject button lights up again! The game loaded with no problems, and this game has been giving me **bleep** for a year. It's all fixed! As for the crashing, none of that has been happening anymore.
