I'm clueless because I'm rather new at routing in general.  I've heard that theres port forwarding manually but I don't know what I'm doing so I won't touch it.  I'd rather hope for a fix or something.

If you do not wish to deal with manual port forwarding since UPnP does not work you can use DMZ.
1.) To use DMZ you will have to know the IP address of you PS3.
2.) Log into you router and look for a page that allows you to check box DMZ on and input the IP address of your PS3.

Note: If you use DMZ you will lose any Hosting Services like IM file transfers, P2P chat hosting, etc.
DMZ forwards all external ports to the DMZ IP address localy.
You will lose hosting capability.

I just shut off UPnP and can play RFOM now.  Haven't tried the headset or anything.   Anyone else have an update about this?

I went in and re-did my wireless internet connection and at the end of the configuration it said "UPnP: Enabled" so I just left it at that and didn't test it.

i have a linksys router and noticed this... played resistance online and couldnt hear anyone... before the latest firmware upgrade i could here everyone and everything was fine... looked at the network settings and it said .. upnp - not available.... connection - nat 3.... so i went to my router and enabled upnp and it worked.... said i had connection nat 2 and upnp was succesful, but everytime i check it its different... it keeps jumping from nat 2 to nat 3 and sometimes the headset works and sometimes it doesnt... whats going on?

It's something in the firmware that's not right..... dont stress over it. It definately does not D-Link..... I'm just wondering if they did anything to piss off SONY so they black balled them with the update.  Smiley Happy   kinda a little punishment untill  V1.52  (who knows)  your guess is as good as mine.

Anyway - DMZ not the answer, I tried both IP being static and by the PS3 Mac Address.  It's just not worth the freaking headache....... Holding my breath for the March update and hoping all is well again.  I turned of UPNP in my router and rebooted....then turned it back on.......still notta.  Something is wrong on the PS3 side not yours.

For what its worth...I currently am experiencing this too. I got a DI-635 MIMO SuperG router....

Hopefully the March update will resolve. I currently am waiting for Resistance to come in the mail, so I can't say if it IS affecting PS3 online play....

I just got my PS3 and the only thing I tried playing online, was Metal Gear Solid Online...I had to open a port up to get it to run though

You'll be able to play online still!  You just wont be able to talk in game.
