I have the same error using PS/3 1.51 and D-Link DIR-655 firmware 1.02.
I get this error in the router log:
Sat Feb 10 14:04:10 2007 UPnP renew entry 255.255.255.255 <-> 126.96.36.199:3658 <-> 192.168.0.139:3658 UDP timeout:-1 '192.168.0.139:3658 to 3658 (UDP)'
192.168.0.139 is my PS/3.
UPnP is enabled in the router.
Can anyone clarify whether this is a router issue or a PS/3 issue? I see a lot of D-Link routers mentioned here. Are users of any other routers experiencing the same problem?
I have emailed D-Link tech support and will post here if I get anywhere with this.

I have this error, too. I am beginning to think it is a D-Link issue. I disabled the UPnP in the wireless setup and I can at least play Resistance online lag free. However, my wireless DL speeds are 1/10th-1/20th the speeds they are with a wired connection. I do not have this problem with the X360 or Wii I have sitting right next to the PS3, all using wireless.

UPnP is important if you want to host games / host chat or have the PS3 be any type of server.
It allows the PS3 to request router port forwarding instead of you having to log in on the router web interface and manualy forward the server ports.
UPnP is great when it works you do not have to go hunting for what port certain games need to get forwarded. Its automatic.
Keep this thread alive. Email DLINK AND SONY tech support. Call them as well.
I belive this is a PS3 problem but not certain since my XBOX 360 uses UPnP protocol and it works just fine but you never know.
I hope this gets fixed soon by SONY or DLINK.
