( Have have asked on so many forums and people about this problem but here, so I hope I can get a lot of helpful answer)
I have a OLD PS3 60GB and the laser has died. (Few months ago) I had ordered a referbished laser (KES-400A) from ebay and installed it...BUT it would ONLY READ BLU-RAY/PS3 and loading time was long! It would not read CD/PS1/DVD/PS2. The red laser light would come on then it would stop spinning the disc and show NOTHING on the screen.
So I sent back the laser thinking it was faulty and marked dots on it to make sure they wouldn't send the same one back even scratch marks on the metal part and they didn't send the same on back. So they sent me another one but IT DID THE SAME THING! So im just cluless on whats going on.
Things I have tried to fix the problem:
Rebuild Data base
Restore File System
Thing that may be the problem: (Maybe)
One of the ribbon cables??? ( They look fine and not too bent so maybe not the problem)
Ribbon Cable (Blu-ray Board to Main Board. It's bent and is a little wrinkly near the bent part ALSO it the blue tab main board part is coming off just a little)
I don't want to send it for repairs any where because im low on money and really only can trust myself to fix it...just barely ha ha.
So you are saying that both were defective? That can't be right...well it can. Well I don't have any laser now because I got a refund for the referbished one...two. How would i know if it re-aligned when holding the eject button?
