The first time this happened, I turned it on and the screen was flashing on the PS3 dashboard. I unplugged the HDMI cable and replugged it. It worked.
Then the next day, I turned the PS3 on, and no screen on the HDMI. I plugged the A/V cord in, it worked fine. No blinking. Just horrible picture quality. lol
So I done the reccommended video reset through the power button, and it worked like once. Doesn't work anymore.
The last time I saw the screen with the HDMI it flashed and went blank and I heard the audio only.
Is this a failing HDMI cable or is it my PS3. It's still under warranty, I'm not worried about that. I just don't want to lose all my game data. =[
If someone knows, it would be much appreciated. I don't want to have to go buy a $70 HDMI if I don't need it.
Did not work. Still no HDMI display. Setting failure or hardware failure?
I plugged in the A/v cable and went to display settings to change it to HDMI and the screen will blink quickly one time and then back to the settings menu.
Make/model of the TV? Sounds like the HDCP handshake is either failing or not supported.
Even so, many persons told me in that time that the problem was in my TV model, and it wasnt.
- My uncle had the same model and it had never happened to him
- And as I stated in my early post I solved the problem
As I hate these HDMI issues. They are so annoying
So you did buy a new HDMI cable correct.. I had this same issue, it actually ended up that a piece of my old HDMI cable had broken off into the HDMI female end of my TV.. I canged the imput from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 and it worked. Be sure that you also check to make sure that the prongs on the female end of the PS3 arent broken or bent. If this does not solve it then you may have a bad system. But give it a shot, it sounds just like the problem I experienced.
Another setting you may want to look at is "Deep Color HDMI" under the Display options on the XMB. My old receiver (Onkyo that I got circa 2008) did not support this so when I had Deep Color HDMI enabled the display would flicker on and off and sometimes would not show anything at all. When I disabled the feature the display was just fine.
My new receiver (Marantz) and my TV are both up to date in terms of compatibility with HDMI 1.4 so I can enable the setting with no issues.
