PS3 Causes TV shadow markings?

10 replies 235 views Edited Oct 1, 2012

Recently, I left my PS3 on for a few hours and walked away. It has always dimmed and brightened to prevent the "shadow" on my TV. When I came back, there was clearly my PSN 'box' with my name and comment engraved in a shadow that is noticiable in the background. What gives? Is there any way to get rid of this??

best way to try to remove the burned in picture is to run a channel with a lot of frame activity, like an action movie or even the classic "snow" channel.

You must have an older LCD/Plasma screen

the PS3 will dim its video a bit to try and reduce any potential burn in, but if anyone logs in or out, the "screen saver" stops and you'll get the bright image.

Turning off your TV if you're going to be away for a good while helps.... also setting the PS3's auto-off feature will help as well

Do you have a Plasma TV or an old CRT SDTV?

The picture has burned into the screen. Hopefully it would fade away in a few days, if not then it is permanent.

Is is a 2010 36" Vizio LCD 720p HDTV.

So I wouldn't call it "old", then again, technology moves fast. I leave my TV on a lot with my PS3, but this has never happened before now.

Ill try to watch some football or something on it, and see if that helps. Thanks!

That shouldn't happen with a LCD TV, because there is nothing to burn in, just transistors that turn on and off...

Thats nearly unheard of on an LCD..... especially when I do believe Samsung provides almost all the panels for Vizio

Well, it was there. I swear I wasn't seeing things. I just booted it back up, but I think it went away. Hopefully.

Thanks again.

LCDs have Image Persistence.

Quite rare, but buggy panels can cause stray charges to remain, causing those artifacts you saw. Should go away though.
