PS Vita or Laptop?

20 replies 1409 views Edited Jun 14, 2012

For a long time, i have been wanting a Laptop. But the other day, i told the Best Buy guy that all i really wanted to do on it was YouTube, Games, Music, and other things that I really dont need a laptop for. He told me to get an iPad, but im not in the mood for an oversized iPod Touch. My parents want me to get one for my Junior year in hig school, but i dont think i need it. All i would need is microsoft word and powerpoint, which have on the desktop. The reason i wnt a laptop is to take it places, but its still really big, so not all that portable. Plus, i dont want to play games on it. Im not into PC gaming as a whole, so i wont be buying a huge Gaming Laptop.

On the other hand, the Vita can do alot, but its no computer. The vita doesnt have web browsing, so i wouldnt be playing flash games. it seems like ill be giving something up on both ends, but i cant bring myself to buy a $600 Laptop just to play Minecraft and check Twitter. All i wanna do is be able to take it on car rides and airplanes, or on vacatin easily and be able to watch movies and play games.

Please Help Me, internet!

Um. thats wrong, the Vita does have an internet browser.  We're getting Youtube, we have good games, and we have Twitter and FB apps already

Then get a Vita. There's no need for a laptop if what you described is all that you're going to be doing.

Especially for car rides. Laptops aren't much use.

Besides, once PS Mobile launches, more "smartphone like apps" will be released.

I bought both...  and I must say.. the battery lasts longer in my Vita then it does in my $1,800.00 laptop..  Laptop battery only lasts like 15mins..

That doesnt seem right, you probably didnt probably charge the battery as a new battery is susposed to be charged. When I first got my new laptop, the battery would last about 3 and a half hours, now it lasts about 8 or so (9 Cell).

Anyway though, the Vita battery does last a long time for what it does (5 hours avg.)

Really? I put mine on lock for 2 hours while I ran some errands, came back and my Vita was almost dead (It was about half charged when I left).

Vita only gets 5-6 hours of battery life. You say you play 3 hours a day for 1 week without chargeing it? O_o Thats 21 hours of playtime off a single charge.
