Just read on Shuhei Yoshida's (SCE Worldwide Studio President) twitter that the 3G plan for the Vita will finally be revealed next month.

well thats good. no matter the plan though I will not get the ps vita version that has the 3G.  I do not need to always be connected. I also will not pay extra for something I will not really use. I'm content with the ps vita wifi only model.

Great news! I guess next month is going to be the month I decide between 3G/Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi only.

You're assuming the Vita allows you to use the phone as a hotspot. As far as I'm aware that hasn't been announced and is highly unlikely Sony would allow you to do that. That would mean no one would by the 3G version of the Vita.

Is the Wi-Fi good?

It's really good. I haven't had any trouble hitting my wireless router. I visited a house using Verizon's MiFi unit for Internet connectivity and had no issue with that, either. In fact, my initial setup found my neighbor's wireless router, and he lives two streets away!

Hmm, the 3G version doesn't seem to have enough for most people to grab. However I may be wrong, most unboxing videos I've seen were mostly 3G/WiFi models but then again it's Japan. In the states however, the WiFi models will probably sell a whole lot more than the 3G/WiFi version, however spending another $50 is nothing sometimes when you plan to drop a couple hundred on the system at launch anyways. It all comes down to the AT&T Contract which is bound to suck.

From Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Vita-First-Bundle-Sony-PS/dp/B005IMVP0O/ref=/ref=cm_cd_t_pb_i

*Mobile Broadband access requires DataConnect Pass plan for other specified devices.

From AT&T's website

https://buyasession.att.com/sbd/Common/ShopRatePlans.action

For Computers, Netbooks, Aircards and Other

DataConnect Day Pass 100 MB $15

DataConnect Week Pass 300 MB $30

DataConnect Month Pass 1 GB $50

For Tablets

DataConnect Month Pass 250 MB $14.99/month

DataConnect Month Pass 2 GB $25.00/month

Draw your own conclusions.

Note also that both AT&T and Sony CS reps have no idea what the plans will be. AT&T reps I called yesterday including the supervisor had no idea what a Vita was. The Sony CS rep I talked to for 40 minutes today said pricing is not set yet. Then again she also told me that the Vita will come out on Feb 12. Facepalms all around.

To me it is comepletely unsatisfactory that a major recurring cost that will add up to more than the system price is yet undetermined. As a middle class worker bee, this info is vital to my buying decision.
