[ Edited ]

Hi, Several Users Have a Problem With The Brightness Locked To maximum 80% In somes games, I read japan vita firmware have the function for disable or enable this parameter with Auto Brightness On/Off, but the others vita firmware regions do not have this option, can you add this function in your next firmware for all users ? Thanks!

Everybody's Golf, Fifa 13, Metal Gear Solid Hd, Unit 13, Wipeout 2048 Are Locked To 80%

Escape Plan, Gravity Rush, Little Big Planet, Mortal Kombat, Rayman Origins, Virtua Tennis 4, Zen Pinball 2 Are Free Brightness.

OLEDs can burn in. Reducing brightness would reduce the chance of burn-in.

Either way, Sony does not read these forums. Submit your suggestions here:

Hi, thanks for your helps Smiley Wink

i think the brightness setting must be by the users and not the devellopers, many devellopers respect this, but some develloppers lock to 80 and the screen luminosity are not the same in all the vita, and after the game at 80 is too dark.

That's subjective.

If it's too dark, play in a darker room. The Vita's screen doesn't do  well in sunlight.

Burning has nothing to do with the brightness lock. "brightness" is nothing more then the black level, contrast is what will cause burn in if left too high for long periods (on screens prone to the issues) as it is the actual "brightness" of bright tones in relation to the dark.

it is power consumption that is the factor. most every launch window game for the vita has this implemented. it is a nice easy way to get good reviews on battery life without many people even aware why.

and yes, i find it annoying as well. uncharted use to not have this and then after patching was suddenly locked.

if they intended to have brightness consistently locked at 80% because of technical limitations with the screen itself,  they would have never given the user the option to have control over it in the first place. that 80% would be the screens maximum output and none of this would even be an issue.

The PS Vita doesn't have thethe sensor to adjust the brightness on its own. Look at any smartphone around the top of the screen and you will see a few small circle like sensors if you hold it and tilt it in the light.

thats not what is being talked about here.

what he is talking about is when you load certain games they auto lower the brightness to around 80% and lock the brightness adjust out of the users control.

I agree. Sony gives far too much control over OUR systems to devs. They can turn off screenshots, custom soundtracks, look how they abused the option to disable remoteplay.

The hardware is yours, but not the software.
