No backwards compatibility NO PS4

317 replies 1609 views Edited Mar 31, 2013
So I hear the new PS4 isn't gonna support PS3 games, well that sucks for guys like me with a 200+ game collection. And why would I want to have to huge consoles hooked up to play games, I think Playstation is making a bad decision with no backwards compatibility . I might not bother with their new system, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. If we all voice concern for this issue, then we get what we want. Here's hoping...

Yea, Same here. I have a lot of games, downloaded too, so i'm not giving up my ps3. I might get a ps4 though because I <3 sony, or i might get it a year afterwards when something bad is discovered and the price drops by a lot. I wont give up my PS3 though.

It has to do with how the Ps3 was build. For the PS4 they're going the standard route making it easier for devs to develop games for it, unlike the PS3 where we had to endure crappy ports. Really, it's the right decision, but yeah it has consequences. But what's wrong with keeping the ol' Ps3 and hook it up again from time to time.

Here's an idea and i know it might sound crazy but stick with me ... how about you KEEP your PS3... omg i know thats ludacris right? but you wouldn't be concerned about B/C if you actually kept your systems

He addressed this in his original post:  Many people will not have the shelf space for an extra device in their entertainment center, after purchasing a PS4.

If you're so worried about not being able to play your old PS3 games, you can just keep your PS3 and use it for your old games when you want to play them.

The Gaikai service will most likely allow you to play those games, too. Just to be safe, I recommend holding onto your PS3 when the PS4 comes out.
