Hello PlayStation® Community,

Recently PlayStation® has released an updated PlayStation® Store that was expected October 23rd 2012. Including excellent New Features, Navigation, Interface, Search Engine and much more. This was an excellent move for Sony PlayStation® to update a dated component for the PlayStation Network. Sony is known for being fair and reaching out to its consumer(s). So therefore WE can make a difference.

Recently has been a big request for an Updated or New XMB™ (XrossMediaBar) on the PlayStation® 3 Console and PSP. There are many issues and problems that persist with the current XMB™ on the PlayStation® 3 console as listed below:

• Slow - (On Homescreen, Web Browsing and while Playing Games)

• Scrolling and Navigation - (Horrible when trying to either reach Middle, Top or Bottom items especially with large music, picture or video catalog)
• Laggy - (When PlayStation is being booted its loads slowly and sluggish even without network features)
• Trophies - (Horribly slow when psyching sometime even freezes)

• Small Icons - (Hard to see with a higher resolution televisions on 720p, 1080i, 1080p at a distance)
• Typography - (Hard or Impossible to read the content or text with most to some themes applied, provided via PlayStation® Store or custom themes from users submissions)

• Dated - (Looks rather corny and childish compared to other competitors the like Nintendo Wii Interface or the Xbox360 Dashboard or even recent Sony products like Xperia smartphones)

• Lacks Appeal

There are Millions of dedicated Sony PlayStation® users alongside us that would love and appreciate this component and feature. If you have any input please provide your suggestions or additional information with this request for a better product.

There are? Name them. 

This has come up repeatedly, and it comes back to the same thing; there's no need to update the XMB. And the fact that you said it looks "corny and childish next compared to other compeitiors" makes me not want to see it change even more so. Why? Because all you're proposing is to make it similar to other consoles. so that way it's homogeous with the others. 

The XMB works. Changing it for the sake of change never turns out well. Like I've said before, I take it that you're too young to remember "New Coke".

The xmb does not need changing. I like how you state that "millions" of dedicated ps3 users are supporting you; however i only see 2 supporters on change.org. Are the rest of those users able to connect to the internet?

Nah, we don't need a new XMB. Changing the store is one thing, but the very thing you will visit all the time? That's a different story.

Now are you stating that the NEW PlayStation® Store does not look really similar to the current Xbox360 dashboard?

I also think the X360 dashboard works similar to the XMB with section categories along the top.

But I do like the new visual interfaces the Microsoft and Sony are developing...

I honestly couldn't disagree with the first post more, having read through the individual criticisms. The only changes I would make would be an option to highlight/dim certain icons so as to fade out what you don't use regularly, to password protect icons of your choice, and the ability to control which icon the xmb starts on (particularly after the singstar startscreen fiasco in Europe) - if they do change anything people should retain the choice to stay as they are, as it's having those choices made for you which provokes the strongest reaction.
