So anyone who just watched SONY's E3 press conference probably saw what was said to be a more affordable entry point into 3D.  However they did not give any details beside the facts that it will be 24" and come with a game (They showed R3) and pair of 3d glasses.  The price point will be $499.99.  What do you guys think?...Good deal or not?

Honestly I would be tempted to get this but there are a few details I would need to know first.  I personally use the same screen for my PC and PS3 so this screen would have to work well as a 2d monitor and 1080p support would be mandatory for my PC with SLI GTX 460s.  I'd also like to see it support a nvidia 3d set up... This product could be a good deal but if they cut too many comers to keep cheap it will not be worth it.  We will have to wait and see.

I would rather get a SAMSUNG T23A750.

I'm not absolutely sure that that monitor would work with PlayStation 3D games and movies. It should, but it isn't absolutely clear to me that it would work...

In case no one has seen or heard, Sony has officially announced that the PS3 3D Display will be released on Sunday, November 13.

I saw this display in action at my local GameStop today, I have to say I was pretty impressed. Although this monitor was rated with only a 5000:1 contrast ratio, the blacks were very dark. This display also has a glossy screen, which I also like because it smooths out the image.

The display also supports 3D glasses on a tether, but the 3D glasses haven't come in yet.

Even though now this display is a little expensive for the money, it does seem to be a quality display...

I wonder how they were allowed to have a demo unit out, when it's not av available for immediate pickup. if your GameStop has a demo unit, I'll have to check the ones here to check it out (even though I only have $150 left to pay for my preorder).

It is a Sony sactioned display demo, like the PS3 Kiosk. Only the display is mounted on the wall among the PS3 games, like the PS Move interactive display...

Like I was saying earlier, I thought it is necessary to demonstrate the display to have a reasonable chance of selling it. I didn't expect GameStop to be one of those places, but it should help sell this $500 accessory...

The E3 announcement is what sold me. Thankfully I put in my pre-order where I get both Resistance 3 and Motorstorm Apocalypse.

I was even allowed to get the Capelli Necklace from GameStop due to placing the preorder.

I haven't had any real experiences yet with active 3D, so used to the passive 3D in the theaters.

Sony does like to be an innovator.

I am looking forward to watching Tron:Legacy 3D & Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides 3D.

The main criticism with passive 3D is that you get half the resolution in each eye, but IMO I don't see much difference when I sit far enough from the TV. Next year there will be a new form of passive 3D that will give a full 1080p HD image to each eye. After that technology is released, I expect that all 3DTVs will eventually adopt that technology since the glasses are so cheap.

I know this display will have the distinction of being the smallest 3D display on the market, but because the display takes up the full area of the front of the display, it seems quite large. I do expect within 6 months that there will be other smaller 3D displays on the market from the likes of Samsung & Vizio...
