Re: New 24 inch 3D TV for PS3

Amazon is now matching GameStop and giving Resistance 3 along with Motorstorm. IMO this is the best deal, since (for most people) there is no sales tax and free shipping...

True, Amazon is now offering the same bundle as Gamestop, however by preordering with Gamestop you can pay in increments instead of having to pay the full amount.

Re: New 24 inch 3D TV for PS3

Here is a question; Will the upcoming Playstation 3D Display (Model Number: PS398078) only work with Playstation branded 3D glasses (Model number: PS398079) or will the display be compatible with other Sony branded 3D glasses such as the youth size model TDG-BR50/B.

There are a couple of reasons for my question. I am thinking the Playstation branded glasses will be to big for my 6 year old son and would like to get him the youth size glasses to make it easier when he watchs the 3D family films on Blu-ray.

I am also wondering if we can the glasses that are currently on the market as they are cheaper. Amazon has active wireless 3D glasses for up to 20 dollars cheaper than the Playstation branded glasses.

I don't think there is any way of knowing that before the product comes out, but I think it is a safe bet that it will be compatible with other Sony 3D glasses, but it is best to make sure wherever you get the kids 3D glasses they are returnable so you can return them if it doesn't work out...

The glasses that come with the display can be used on other Active 3D Displays not just Sony.

You would think that if you can use the glasses with other displays, you should be able to use other glasses with the display as well.

Sony has announced that the PS3 3D Display will be released in November. Gamestop is showing a release date of November 26th.

Amazon.com is showing the release as December 31, 2011.

Hopefully Sony will release an actual release date instead of an estimate.

Thanks for the answer.

Kind of a (wrinkle knose) pisser that Sony is selling Playstation branded 3D glasses for (currently no discounting) $69.99 retail when Sony branded can be purchased for $59.99 retail; and with heavy discounting can be found on the internet for less than $50.00.

Basically anything related directly to the PS3 that's Sony Branded will be higher than those that are just Sony Branded.

Same thing can be said for games, the Sony developed games cost more than those done by outside developers.

Concerning the PS3 3D Display being a bundle right now is how they are trying to gain sales momentum. Perhaps after 6 months to a year, the display will be by itself.

The PS 3D glasses haven't been released yet, so we only know the MSRP price of $70. I am sure within weeks of the glasses being released they will be discounted at Amazon, Best Buy, etc.

Can you name some examples of this? I can't think of any examples where PS3 related Sony items are higher than regular Sony brand items.

AFAIK Sony PS3 games cost the same as 3rd party PS3 games (normally $60). I expect after awhile (like PS1 & PS2 games), Sony's first party titles will retail $10 less than before making them cheaper than 3rd parties...
