Last month, my PS3 stopped reading discs and I went to a forum and asked which blu-ray drive I would need for a 120 GB PS3.I was told I needed a KES-450A, I purchased it last week. Yesterday, my packaged arrived and when I opened it the box had KES-450E written on it. I sent the seller an email and he told me that they are the same model and compatible with each other. Is he telling the truth?
Just to recap:
120 GB PS3, model number CECH-2001A
Blu-ray drive ccurrently in my possession- KES-450E
Want to be to 100% sure they are compatible
Yes they should be compatible. Please not I'm not 100% certain on this, but from looking around it says they're compatible. You can wait for a second opinion, or you can put it in and try it; up to you.
No other markings?
That part number appears to be a laser lens part number as opposed to a drive unit itself.
This is a blast from the past, have not fiddled with one in quite some time.
The truth will set you free... But it may sting a bit...
I see that 3 of those in the chart state that they are interchangeable, but 2 that I'm concerned with are not, so maybe I'm in the good.
I opened the package all the way and the KES-450E looks similar to the KES-450A, but I'm still weary, so I'd like more opinions.
