Re: My fat ps3 still working thread.

Feb 5, 2013

Bought a 60 GB model a few months back from a guy that was selling his. It wouldn't turn on so had a friend that used to professionally repair Phat PS3's look at it. He said the ZSSR5391A power supply burned out due but the Cell/RSX was in very good shape. He put in an

APS-226 power supply and replaced the thermal paste and it works great. I upgraded the HDD to 1TB on it.

Still have an 80 GB CECHE01 unit that works. However I think the thermal paste is bad because my 60 GB doesn't work as hard to keep cool while the 80 GB will stay in high fan mode after 45 minutes. Thinking about getting it sent off for upgrades. The Blu-Ray drive had to be replaced in the 80 GB system.

My PS3 consoles:

CECHA01 60 GB BC PS3 (upgraded to 1TB HDD), APS-226 PSU, IC Diamond 7 TP
CECHE01 80 GB BC PS3 (MotorStorm bundle upgraded to 500 GB HDD), replaced Blu-Ray drive.
