My Playstation 3 won't connect to the internet :(

9 replies 654 views Edited Feb 26, 2010
Hi, my Playstation 3 will not connect to the internet at all. Everytime I attempt to get online, it gives me error code 80710092, and says that there is some sort of DNS server error. I have unplugged and restarted both my modem and my router. I then tried to attempt to connect to my wifi signal once again, but it says the same error. All my other wireless devices work with my router, so I know my router is not having issues. I have also tried putting in all the internet connection info manually into the PS3 (my IP address, my DNS, my default gateway, etc.) and it still wont connect. I just now restored my settings to default and it still wont connect. I am fearing that it is some fault with the Playstation hardware, but I hope that it's not. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

change your DNS to OpenDNS 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

     Launch PS4 || Launch 60GB YLOD || PS3 Slim 1TB || Gaming since October 1977 (Atari VCS launch)

OK... This is what's happening at my house. I can connect to PSN and play MW2 online with no problems on my PS3 Slim 120gb... In my living room I have a PS3 60gb/ backwards compatible and I get the same connection and trophy problems as everybody else... So I hope ( knocking on wood ) that there isn't a virus on my 60gb.

I got those errors. If you`ve got McAfee like me you have to uninstall in order to play online. Ps3`s are not recognized as pc`s so McAffee cant list them in your home network as "trusted" even if you click the "trusted" button you cant assign it a number like u can with pc`s and other more common networking devices. After you`re done playing you can reinstall free as long as your yearly subscription isn`t up.
