Monster Hunter Confirmed for Vita, 2014

21 replies 1375 views Edited Sep 19, 2013

The Vita will be recieving Monster Hunter: Frontier G come 2014. Now, I know the MH games cause consoles to sell like hotcakes in Japan, but I am led to believe this game is a port of an upcoming PS3/WiiU version. So is this yay or nay?

I'd say its a yay since its bound to do pretty well in Japan. They usually sell better on portables I think (could be wrong) so that might help out the Vita's version against the other two.

I've never been able to get into that series but I'm happy for those that love it and that it might push some more Vitas. Anything that helps more people take notice of the Vita is ultimately a yay imo.

This is a BIG deal for Japanese sales. Monster Hunter on 3DS is what kickstarted its sales (along with Mario Kart 7 to an extent).

It's an updated version of the multiplatform Monster Hunter MMO that's been around for quite a while. That said, Phantasy Star Online 2 did fairly well on Vita and it was in a similar situation. I think it will be successful but not the savior an exclusive MH would have been.

The PS3 version comes out this month in Nihon.  Hope the fact that the Nintendo versions made it out of Nihon that these will also.

Yeah no kidding.

Monster Hunter 4 released in Japan, and in TWO DAYS, sold 1.8 million copies (also  moved 298,000 3DS units)

That being said: MH4 was a new Monster Hunter game.

This is probably a port of an existing one.

The fact that this is a multiplatform release and that it'll have less content than the home console version will take a lot away from it. It's still promising since, finally, Capcom decided to give something to the PSV other than two fighting games with DLCs~.

Just don't expect it to be the hit that MHP3rd was, not so much because of not being a new entry (MH3 sold really well on the 3DS) but because if you can choose between more content, you'll obviously go for the home console version~.

Also considering that it releases for every other console FIRST (It released in Japan on PC and 360 in April of this year, comes to PS3 in November, and Wii U in December), I don't see them paying for it again on Vita, especially since the Vita still isn't in a lot of people's hands.
