Messaging Privacy Question

9 replies 12 views Edited Jun 1, 2010
Hi there, Just wondering if it's possible that people outside your friends list can't send you messages, besides blocking of course, but people could make other PSN IDs or use their friends to say, harass you. If there is a setting please point me in the right direction, if not then I hope one is implemented, thanks.

as far as i know there is nothing like that at the moment except blocking someone. And for your second concern about that blocked person telling someone else to harass you... that other person has some huge problems. Sorry theres no way I know of that can help stop that at the moment. Hope it all works out for you.

HA! That's so funny, I forgot to laugh-excluding the first 'Ha'

You would think a simple block on all messages with the exception of everyone on your friends list would be a standard function.

I honestly have no desire to play online games on my PS3 at all anymore. Who wants to be insulted for winning a game by a 18 year old with to much testosterone.

I play to relax not receive hate mail.

It should have privacy settings kind of like Facebook has. Setting choices as follows, recieve messages from:Everyone; Friends; Friends of Friends. This works with messages and who can view your profile. They should also make a spam filter type of thing that can somehow block out all of the chain mail.

This needs to be addressed. Gamer harassment is a problem. You get insulted for winning. You get insulted for losing. Messages are racist. sexist, and obscene.

I just want to block all messages from non-friends.

Is there a parental setting for this?

Please address this.

Not to mention the messages that say something like "sony will give you X amount of PSN credits if you send this message to X number of people." complete B.S.
