Mastercard Vanilla won't work

I bought a $25 Mastercard Vanilla and registered it online (gave it my zip code). Went to make it my credit card on my account and it says it isn't valid. I know it's valid because it still charges me the $1 hold fee. I live in the states, so I'm not looking for an answer that blames Canada. I enter my name and billing address, so that isn't the problem either. Anyone know what I can do to fix it?

I don't know other than to make 100% sure that your entering all the data correctly. Also is there anything else you need to do to activate the card? Just entering your ZIP doesn't sound like enough.

Is this the type of card that they sell that's almost like a giftcard? Why not just purchase a PSN card instead?

Re: Mastercard Vanilla won't work

Welcome to the PlayStation Community.

Pre-Paid cards will only work if they are registered with a name & address.

I agree with the above, use the pre-paid card to purchase PSN cards, much less hassle.

Re: Mastercard Vanilla won't work

The reason I buy gift cards is because what I want is rarely the full price of the $25 psn card, and I don't want to leave $15 or so waiting until something else comes out that I might want. I kind of figured I would have to use it to buy a psn card, but I was hoping I could avoid that. Oh well, thanks for the help.

Try the $10 PSN card. http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/detail.jsp?skuId=9394265&pid=1218098217031 I don't think i've ever seen them at retail, but I only have a Walmart close by.
