Machine Hunter was a classic top-down shooter of amazing proportions. Developed by Eurocom and published by MGM, it was released in 1997 for the Sony Playstation. Sadly it never achieved critical acclaim, however it has become quite a cult hit. The basic premise is simple: you start out as a human with the ability to transfer your consciousness into damaged robots. Once you take control over a robot all of it's abilities will be at your disposal, allowing you to move further on and take control of increasingly powerful robots. The goal of the game is to rescue all of the hostages in each level. I do believe that with the success of modern twin-stick shooters such as Renegade Ops, a PSN release of Machine Hunter would be quite well received by shooter fans.
