Condensation? Jeez, I didn't even think about that. I just got my PS3 (ex-360 owner, embarrassed to say)and it represents a major investment for me. I keep my apt. really cold and have my PS3 running a lot, is condensation something I should worry about?

Maybe you guys are right... But one thing's for sure, I will NOT send my console to Sony. Come on, if Microsoft fixes thousands of 360 with RRoDs, then why can't Sony? I spent two years saving up for a PS3 and I'm not putting $160 more into it...

It sounds if the oil/grease from the motor of the Disc drive is leaking out and getting on your discs.  This is bad either way. It will either stop because all of it will eventually leak out or keep doing it.  If it all leaks out the motor will eventually break.  This is something you have to send to sony.

My older PS3 40gb PS3 had got a small line of grease/dust occasionaly when the disc was ejected.  This I think was normal even though it was a pain to wipe off.  I noticed that the dust protector on that ps3 was rubber and I think that was part of the cause.  On My new PS3 the dust protector for the drive is cloth/felt and it hasn't happened once.

Seriously, what the heck?! A few hours ago, I popped in Assassin's Creed (bought the day before) and the game freezes at the UbiSoft Logo, I restarded and tried the operation 3 times and I still get the same results... I pop the game out, and i discover my game is covered by a liquid substance (which dried) and as a result:the game is ruined... I tried to pop in another shiny disc (The Orange Box) and I hear a weird noise in the console. I pull the disc back out and the disk was wet too... But fortunately I was able to save this one.

Can someone tell me what's going on?! I have a 40GB PS3 bought in december 2007...

Normally i would make a **bleep** comment, but seriously, im a little freaked out by this. Send it in.

so, since ms was sued because of the 3 red rings, sony should fix all ps3's for free outside of the warranty?

The only thing aquous inside the ps3 is the gease used to lube the drive's bearings... it will not dry out...

...did someone say there was refrigerant inside? WTH?...

the only thing i can think of is that you have roaches or some bugs inside getting grid up... I saw a ps3 as a garage sale, when I picked it up and put it down a roach crawled out...  SICK!

The entire purpose of AC is to remove moisture. AC does not make cold air, it removes the water from the air and what's left is cooler air.

The only way it could condensate water is to have it out side on a cold day and take it into a warm building, even then the moisture is gone in mere seconds.

The cooler the better for PS3's.
