I wouldn't trust the used models from Gamestop... chances are, they are not actually refurbished.

Personal preference, I would look at a new 'slim' core system, if they have them in stock, and then choose the games you want. Might put you a bit over $300, but it'll be worth it in the long run. The Super Slim just looks and feels 'cheap' to me, especially the '90s style sliding disc cover.

The best deal for a new PS3 right now is the Amazon Exclusive Family Entertainment Bundle. Super slim PS3 250GB, PS3 controller, Blu-ray remote, two games, free shipping. $250.

If you don't like the two games it comes with you can always sell them new on Amazon or Ebay for an even bigger discount. I did that with my original slim black friday bundle.

Forgot to add that I would also consider purchasing the 2-year extended warranty, but you don't need to do that immediately as you have a full year of warranty with the system. If you buy used, it's only 90 days, and no option for the extended warranty.

Core system just means you get everything you need to use the PS3 without all the unnecessary extras, usually at a reduced price.

The first Slim model is only sold as a core system, which means it is the PS3, a single Controller, a multi-AV cable, charge cable for the controller and a power cord. Last I checked, it was $229 for the 250Gb and $249 for the 320Gb.

You have to look around and see what stores are having sales.

I've always bought my systems from Target. They have a GREAT return policy, and will work with you on returns and warranty issues.

Here is a new System that includes a lot of stuff for just $249.99! It's a steal.
