dont get a plasma tv whatever you do! look into regular hd tv's. just look at the brands you trust and dont go for anything fancy like one that connects to the internet.

Why not plasma? I heard they are best for gaming, with low motion blur and low issue of burn n now adays

I have a 42" Vizio 1080p 3D Smart TV that I picked up for under $500.  120Hz, Passive 3D (light, cheap glasses; the ones you get at 3D movies at the cinema are compatible), no input lag that I've noticed.  The non-3D, non-Smart TV version of it was only like $25 less at the time.

Any Samsung, Vizio, or Sony TV's are pretty good. I would go with one of those 3 brands. I have a 32" Vizio and 52" Samsung and they don't disappoint.

they still burn in if they set to long. every part of the screen has to be moving. just because the low issue of a burn is less, it still will happen.

well you can risk it as its your money. if you want to use it you can, but i stick with hdtv as they are more reliable imo

Here's a list of HDTVs and how good they are for gaming. I have an LG IPS23x (Excellent) and a Magnavox (Great) and I agree with that list.
