Not to sound like a noob but what is this? Do you have to have a PS3 or can you do it on the computer? What do you download and what do you do with it? Is this contributing to something or is it just for fun?

You are folding Proteins in different ways to find out what happens to certain proteins when certain things are done to them. By doing simulations you are able to get data in which people at Stanford University can look at and help find cures for such things as cancer. The sooner all the simulations are done the sooner all the answers are unlocked. O and what causes things like cancer are proteins being folded wrong. I hope this helped... cause this is my understanding of folding@home.
