Stay away from people fixing them, they could last 2 weeks or longer! But I understand ps4 coming out and all there's no point in buying another ps3! But why don't u pay the 50 bucks, fix it sale it for 120 tell the people it was fixed or not tell them! And that 120 can go to another ps3 or ps4!

I wouldnt rip anyone off, that is not my intention.  I want to get it fixed for a small amount of 40 dollars, I have a friend that got his fixed this summer and his is still running.  I would love to get a few more years out of it if possible for only 40 dollars but was wondering if others tried this as well.

I performed the same fix these guys on craigslist are offering, it worked for about six months before the problem reoccurred, but I also know people who never experienced the issue again after years of use.

I'd say $40 is a fair deal, if you were to do it yourself it could cost more---assuming you don't have all the necessary tools and accessories; torx screw drivers, heat gun, high quality flux pen and thermal paste, new thermal pads (not essential, but for good measure), plus your time on research and labor.

You can fix this your self in about an hour. I have the original ps3 from launch day and I got the YLOD about 9 months ago and its works as good as new! Take you ps3 apart right down to the main board with the fan and everything removed wipe off the old thermal paste on the two big silver chips then clean with rubbing alcohol. When that  is done place on something flat and level then heat the hole board up slightly concentrate most of your heat on the two big chips I believe they are called CPU and gpu not sure but heat those up really good then let it cool down for 30 min then apply new thermal paste and assemble your plastation and your good to go.

As long as you don't post complaining that the PS4 is not backward compatible the next day fine.

$40 is not bad to repair it. do you still have the old HD? might want to try it back in the PS3.

Getting Older doesn't mean it's GAME OVER
It's a better idea to buy games for your PS4
Than to buy a New Console for your PS4

I am not the best at repairing, I dont care about backwards compatibility, once pay for a new game I typically let the old ones go (except my ps1 final fantasies, which i still own a ps1).  I think i will end up repairing the ps3, if it fails the guys said i dont have to pay if it works it will be 40 dollars.  If i get two weeks out of it, then its 40 dollars.  I can deal with that.  I may buy another new not sure yet.  I can sneak it without my wife knowing.
