Its on sale for 999$ plus a 100$ gift card. The only thing is it has no game mode would that matter? And is this a good buy?

i just looked at the details and specs and it says "yes" in the game mode line.

I'd go with something else, but if your not a stickler for picture quality, and prefer aesthetics of the display then, this will work.

You cant go wrong with Sony, there TV's are awesome and great for PS3 or PS4. 3D is ehh to be, I don't see myself buy a TV for 3D.

I rather put my money on a bigger screen and higher hrtz for better quality then to shell out more for 3D.

That does not improve quality.....it actually HURTS quality, due to a fixed pixel density and increasing total surface area. And the hertz refresh rate HURTS console gameplay because most games run at 30fps on PS3 and PS4 will run all games at 60fps.... 120/240hz TV's with such enabled, causes MASSIVE amount of input lag. So by that very token, you're paying for a crappier overall gameplay experience.
Some people CAN play with motion processing enabled.... but I have twitch-reflexes... I will intantly notice any input lag.
