Is the fan test supposed to cause a YLOD Instance?

17 replies 478 views Edited Oct 15, 2009
When I did the fan test the other day on my 120 GB System (so I could blow out any dust that accumulated), the machine shut off and started blinking its red light. Obviously, the touch buttons didn't do anything when I touched them. Unplugging then plugging the system resolved the Red blinking light though.

I didn't actually see it because I was too busy seeing if any dust had come out when it shut itself off. Yes, it's a slim.

why would you do something thats not in the manual just because you saw it on the internet?, why do you think you need to "blow the dust out" of a system that cant be more than a month old?,,i took mine apart after almost 3 years and there was really no dust in it.

"the fan test" isnt a legit maintanence feature.

seems as though everyone believes what they see on youtube, and discredit those who advise against this practice until their PS3 is no longer working.
