the 30% - 70% discounts make it pay off by themselves. Often at least 30% on release day, and instead of YOUR 20% off weekly sales, we get 50% ! It adds up fast - just got Section 8 Predjudice and all dlc ($25-$30) for $12.
So do the hundreds of dollars in free games, addons, dlc, themes, avatars, etc.
Even the beta invites alone are worth it if you like that kinda thing. Two Assassins Greed betas, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, Killzone 3, DC Online, and lots more. Personally I find these fun.
Automatic Updates & gamesynching and LOTS more.
I'd probably pay $50 for each of these features seperately and be very happy!
Really like digging around every week for all the free goodies, creates a nice lunar-like breathing cycle I can set my watch to.
4 me idc about it. what am going 2 get free themes & avatars ? am not fond of their mini games or n their discounts bcuz i dnt bye much thing from the store 2 b honest. so it depends on the person him/her-self. f u like 2 buy much things from the store then go 4 it otherwise u might consider it waste of money.

That is exactly the way I looked at it going in, only my initial cost was something like $3.33/month (12+3 free). When I renewed, I had the $10 voucher for buying too much shit on the PSN store in Oct, so I got PS+ for $40, which is $3.33/month. As an added bonus, I received JP for free. Really hard to beat those deals.
