Re: Is Sony/Playstation Going to Fix the Wifi?

Your problem is that gateway. I have a Comcast Modem/Router combo and I'm going to send it back as soon as I'm motivated enough to deal with Comcasts customer service which us a very painful experience. It's been confirmed in many threads on Comcasts forums that there is a huge problem with their equipment. Even when using my laptop or iPhone. I'm only getting a fraction of my bandwidth through WIFI.

I enjoy comcast.

Depends on what time you go online though :\

On Janurary 15 or something, I had epic speeds.

I have the BLAST! package for like 50mbps dl.

I had a speedtest of 100mbps.  I was like **bleep**?

I have a Cisco router, I might try that to see if that works.

Still had 13mbps on my PS4 on that same date.

I have a dedicated IP adress for my PS4.... 10.0.0.4

My PC (typing from) is the 'priority'.  10.0.0.2

I get blazing speeds on my PC anytime.  But not my PS4.

My ipod gets better results then my PS4 sometimes!

Make sure you set your comcast modem to bridge mode so it can send all traffic to the Cisco router to output internet. Even thought its a router, if the main modem sin't set to bridge mode, it could cause a issue with your main connection.

Considering the fact that if you want to have a stable connection online and be able to download stuff from the PS Store gradually fast, you have to use wired.  Because of the simple fact that wireless is very bad in the PS4.

And the 85mbps Powerline adapter is just horrible.

I would love to get another one, but really.  considering my homes electic use, I don't know if it would help.

I have a modem/router gateway.  (It's combined) from Xfinity/Comcast.

I have a Netgear router (Pretty new actually), that is unused curretnly.  I might try that to see if I can get a better speed.

But I can get GREAT speeds on PS4.

I got like 20mbps dl.  And that was the estimate.  the mbps is mega-BITS per-sec.  Not BYTES.  (Yes there is a large differece)

Search on google.... PS4 wifi.

85% of the posts are saying that the wifi adapter built in the PS4 is just a piece of junk.  Why bother adding the Wifi in the ps4?

If you want to have good connection, and stable connection downloads you have to use WIRED.

Plain and simple.

I attempted my Powerline adapter.  DIdn't work for crap.  For somereason, I must just throw it away since it's useless.

EDIT...

Forgot to add that my buddy of mine opened up the PS4 and looked around in it.  (He did spend $400 to open the ps4 up and look at the hardware)

HE was even saying the adapter/antenna is in a bad spot, plus it is cheap.

He is a 'geek' in a way.  He has built at least 500 Computers in the last 2-5 years.  (Gaming-Buisness ones)

But does anyone have a clue...

IF I could use a Wireless Ethernet Bridge?

Stuff like this? http://compnetworking.about.com/od/hardwarenetworkgear/ss/wirelessadapter_4.htm

http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Universal-Ethernet-Adapter-WNCE2001/dp/B003KPBRRW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&q...

I am afraid this could be the thing that is causing troubles for some people.  My friend cannot use the Party Chats if its not wired.  Its a huge problem for some people.  For me getting a ton of cannot download messages because Im simply watching Netflix and downloading a demo or update is just BS.  But what can we do?

LOL.

Yeah.

The MAX speed for router when my main modem/router is not in bridge is like 15 mbps max.

But the range on my Cisco one is extremely good.

I can easily connect to it 100ft away from teh router.

But do YOU think I can use this?

That 50PS to 100MPS is there boost. It only happens when the network has low ussage on comecast side. Soon as more people go online you go back to the 50 MPS. Comcast has one of the slowest Wifi out there. If you got it brand new they clain faster wifi in there commercials. Seeing I switch from, them to fios. Got faster internet wired and wireless. No data caps. cheaper price I cant complain. On the older system there wifi isnt that fast at all. For small stuff its great. Big stuff still took forever.  FIOS I got 80 MPS down 30 MPS up. they also offer the boost that Comcast does. Seeing fiber optic. I hardly share network places I usualy get over 100 MPS any time of the day,

There is a huge difference in Fiber Optic then Cable.

If google fiber was brought in Detroit.  (They could have had it in Detroit, but the City Council Turned it down for w/e reason), I would get Fiber.

If AT&T uverse was availiable, I might get them.  But their speeds are SLOW...
