Is Sony/Playstation Going to Fix the Wifi?

[ Edited ]

Well, as a wifi user.  I kind of have to use Wifi.  Cause my router is upstairs.  Plus, the wire would run across the floor and kill someone probably.

But I am very fed up with how the Wifi is w/ the PS4.  Like seriously Sony?

The PS3 was the best wifi.

I can download a 1gb file in less then 10 minutes on my PS3.

On my PS4.... takes about 25 minutes.  Cause it tends to 'pause' at random spots in download.

And I have one of those powerline internet adapters.

I am 90% sure I have a bad model or something.

Plus, either it's the wifi, or Sony just has crappy servers with crappy download speeds.

FIX It in the next update or give us like USB Adapters or something  for gamers sake!

I dont have a powerful internet where I currently live and because of the router being on the living room and my PS4 and PS3 are in my gaming bedroom I have problems with PS4 downloads.  My PS4 currently says cannot download this or this or this.  It takes forever to download something because of it being far away.

You have a powerline internet adapter, so you connect your PS4 via wifi?  That kinda...  doesn't make sense.

The purpose of a powerline adapter is to use your home's powerlines to carry your internet to other areas of your home.  You connect the ethernet from the router to the powerline adapter's base, which plugs into the wall.  You then plug the other end of the powerline adapter to a wall outlet near your PS4, connect it via another ethernet cable, and set the PS4 up on a wired connection.  The powerline adapter takes care of the 'wifi' function of the connection.

The PS Store on both systems is about the same for download time. 1GB on PS3 in 10mins but 25 mins on PS4? I have my brothers PS4 and it downloaded stuff the PS Store faster then my PS3.

If the problem is the PS4 itself how do you propose it be fixed with an update?

Considering the fact that if you want to have a stable connection online and be able to download stuff from the PS Store gradually fast, you have to use wired.  Because of the simple fact that wireless is very bad in the PS4.

And the 85mbps Powerline adapter is just horrible.

I would love to get another one, but really.  considering my homes electic use, I don't know if it would help.

I have a modem/router gateway.  (It's combined) from Xfinity/Comcast.

I have a Netgear router (Pretty new actually), that is unused curretnly.  I might try that to see if I can get a better speed.

But I can get GREAT speeds on PS4.

I got like 20mbps dl.  And that was the estimate.  the mbps is mega-BITS per-sec.  Not BYTES.  (Yes there is a large differece)

Search on google.... PS4 wifi.

85% of the posts are saying that the wifi adapter built in the PS4 is just a piece of junk.  Why bother adding the Wifi in the ps4?

If you want to have good connection, and stable connection downloads you have to use WIRED.

Plain and simple.

I attempted my Powerline adapter.  DIdn't work for crap.  For somereason, I must just throw it away since it's useless.

EDIT...

Forgot to add that my buddy of mine opened up the PS4 and looked around in it.  (He did spend $400 to open the ps4 up and look at the hardware)

HE was even saying the adapter/antenna is in a bad spot, plus it is cheap.

He is a 'geek' in a way.  He has built at least 500 Computers in the last 2-5 years.  (Gaming-Buisness ones)

But does anyone have a clue...

IF I could use a Wireless Ethernet Bridge?

Stuff like this? http://compnetworking.about.com/od/hardwarenetworkgear/ss/wirelessadapter_4.htm

Are your ports open within your router? Make sure you have your PlayStation 4 and router set up properly.
