Cable or Wifi

Aug 8, 2007
If youre talking about raw throughput... a cable.  The card in the PS3 is a G.  Which can run at MAX 54Mbps.  However, about half of that is being used for interference issues, packet tracing and such.  So you really only get 20-28 down.  An ethernet (CAT-5) can run at 100Mbps, stable at about 60ish...  If you're only playing games online, you won't notice a difference, since your internet connection is slower than either form of networking.  Unless you have the Road Runner extreme that goes 30Mbps... WOW there.    You will see less problems with a cable if you have 2.4Ghz cordless phones.  As the network (B, G and N) all run at 2.4Ghz.  You can change the chennel on your router to broadcast at chanell 11 (which I do) and have your phones on chanell 1 to make sure they don't interfere as much.

Well maybe you can answer this .. Alot of us seem to have alot of issues with very slow download speeds with the PS3 wired or wireless and I personally have the issue too. I have the 10Mbps package from brighthouse and on my computer I normally download at a speed of 1.2 megabytes per second but as soon as I try to download on the PS3 it's like dial-up ...
