I had my ps3 broken recently and looking forward to buy a new one.
I search for it and there was 160GB and 320GB model available.
But honestly I don't need 160GB nor 320GB of space. Cause I was fine with my 80GB one.(for 5 years)
I wish they sell the PS3 cheaper by installing HDD with lower capacity
so light gamers like me can buy it easily. I feel like wasting my money if I buy 160GB one and only use
like 60~70GB till it brakes up and unable to use the rest.

He's right......
With the increasing manufacturing processes and increasing storage capacities and sinking costs of hdd's.... it only makes sense to get the biggest drive you can afford.
I bought a 500Gb hdd years ago for both my PS3's...... they cost me $80 each.... and now after a few years they have came down to $60-$70, AFTER the prices skyrocketed as a result of the floods in Taiwan where most of the hdd's are manufactured.
If you compared the prices of smaller capacity drives to larger capacity drives, you'll see that it makes sense to buy the bigger drive
You may be right that you'll never use up the entire drive, but thats the best part about it....... you'll never have to upgrade either.

If they still sold a PS3 with an 80GB HDD, it would still be $250, because the difference in the cost of the drive is pretty insignificant.
That's why it's silly to pay $50 more for a larger hard drive, when you can buy the lower capacity one and a larger hard drive with the money you save (also buy a HDD enclosure, and you have an instant backup drive).

you're not getting it......
look at what I said above as to comparing smaller drives vs larger drives.
Second..... the 250Gb Super Slim is only $20 more than the 320Gb Slim and thats due to the fact that it comes with a $30 voucher to donwload Dust 514 AND it comes bundled with Uncharted 3 GOTY edition...... the 500Gb Super Slim cost a little more than that because it comes with Assassins Creed 3.
You're getting MORE for your money.
I'll try to say it again in plain english..... It is not good financial sense to keep a smaller capacity unit.... the costs of older drives will stagnate and hardly ever shrink, especially when Sony gets hdd's for their manufacturing IN BULK at below wholesale prices for current hard drives that are offered on the low end of laptops......
At this point you're not arguing about anything that makes financial sense.........
Look at the overall capacity increase the PS3 has had over the years vs the price drop its had..........
Again, like I said before....... you can wait to see if the 12/16Gb Super Slims come to the US

Well the hard drive capacity is not the reason for the cost is the price for the cpu n gpu components. But PS3 is very low i got mine in 2007 for $600 plus a couple slim. u can buy a cheap use ps3 or fix urs at home.

I suggest you wait until Black Friday to buy your replacement PS3. If it is anything like last year, you should be able to buy one for $200...

Even if they did have a cheaper model it would inevitabley cost you more in the long run. One of the things that happens when play "play it cheap", is that you eventually have to add the things you're missing later. Eventually you'll run out of storage space, and you'd have to buy a new hard drive anyway.
