I tried to connect my PS3 to a wireless network and now it freezes before menu

I tried connecting to a local wireless network and the system froze. When I tried restarting the system it froze before loading the XMB. I've tried restoring the files through SAFE mode, but it still freezes before loading the menu. I REALLY don't want to lose everything by resetting to factory settings as I have no way to retrieve most of it, not having a way to connect to the internet with it.

does it do it when the net is turned off? if so you may have to do a factory reset.    You may also want to see if it does it when you hard wire it to the network...... If the reset does not help it could be that the network is malfunctioning and you would neeed to look into getting it repaired

Put the system back in safe mode and use the option to Rebuild Database and see if it works.
