Use this tool to format a drive thats over 32GB as FAT32 Format,  HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool

or if you are comfortable with command line you can use Fat32Format

Does the four gig size limit apply to game files as well?
Also, the ps3 data (previous saves ect.,.) will still exist right?

I have a question.

I can use my usb for movies, photos and stuff.

I can copy the autosaves for my usb disk but no idea where can I chose to save the game data to the usb drive.

because just the gran turismo academy wants to save 8GB in my 12 GB console... 

and I can't seem to point it to save those in the usb extension. nor can I move it to the usb data

any1 who have any problems with ur terabyte hdd used MiniAide Fat32 Formatter Home Edition it help me trust me i have a Toshiba Carvio 1.5 TB and i try a swiss and Hewlett and they were both gay

bonjour moi j'ai deja mis mon disque dur en format fat32 et jarrive a mettre des musique video et tout mais jai par exemple tekken le nouveau et jai une ps3 que de 12 GO alors jai acheter le disque dur de 500 GO maintenant quand je met tekken il me disent que je nes pas assez de memoire et que il manque 5000 MB alors que le disque dur est branche a la ps3  merci de maider

Yeahhhhh buddy. **bleep** works just fine. lost all my data formatting but i can always bootleg that s*** again. the GREAT thing is i can finally use this **bleep** for my 360 as well as ps3. im new to ps3 but i been 360n it for a few yrs. my drive is like 3 yrs old and i havent been able to use it but on my mac. no-go on my pc and xbox. now im gravy baby. If i could i'd kiss you u awesome "white boy" you. u gota be white cuz none of my ninjas coulda provided me with this info. good lookin out cuz!

Well, I mean yes & no, I don't know what you're asking, but it'll work with any kind of hard drive, as long as it's clean and formatted in fat32.

I have done everything right, and the external hard drive shows in the Data Utility folder under the Games folder on my PS3, but the PS3 doesn't save in game data to it.  Why not.  If I try and install a new game, it still says my system is full and I need to save up space, but when I go into the new hard drive and click on Info, it says empty?!  Please help.
