Yeah, if the drive isn't FAT32, it won't even show up.
sweet thanks....now i got another question......theres no way to change it to a FAT32 without taking everything off huh. i already have mine full of stuff.
and also this might not even be my problem.........when i plug it into the ps3 it doesnt even detect anything there....is this because its still NTFS and not FAT32? like it doesnt even see that i pluged anything into the usb port..
If you wanna convert the drive to fat32 you'll have to backup your info to another drive first internal or another external, and Solar already answered your other question
I have plenty of external HDD's lying around, but I've never connected one to my PS3. The reason is that since it must be FAT32, I can't have file sizes greater than 4GB. The only reason I'd want to even connect an external HDD is to play the 5 GB+ files that are mkv files that I used mkv2vob to convert to a PS3-playable file.
Is there any way around this file size limit?
Meanwhile, I just stream the videos from my desktop, but occasionally the video freezes---I assume a result of the bandwidth limitations of my wireless router. It would really be nice to just be able to plug an EHD into my PS3 and watch directly from the drive.
