Im trying to download the Add-On of Socom, Cold Front. Yet the pace is about 1 MB every 20 min!! The total file is 1217 MB!!
I downloaded the Backbreaker Demo and its only took 30 min for that to download, it was a 437 MB download....How do i fix this??
I tried using a wired connection and it made no difference. i tried restarting the download hundreds of times to see if there is a difference, but theres not. Im currently in Wi-Fi and my connection is always 90%+.. Someone PLEASE help me. Im dieing to play the DLC.
Well... if you stopped restarting it you would have had it downloaded already.
Unless your planning to change internet providers, there isnt anything you can really do. (well.. thats if you really have tried both wired and wireless)
How fast is your connection speed?
PlayStation Store is a free service, you don't have to pay so it's expected to have low download speeds on the downloads.
When PS4 arrives we'll probably have to pay to play and use online services, i.e, to improve it and have better services/speeds. Like XBL.
437mb in 30 mins that's still too long, but it's good considering it's from PSS
Obviously, if i would have left it alone, it wouldnt even be close to being done by now. If it kept at the same pace it would have taken 24,340 min to finish. An i downloaded it yesterday. An no im not changing providers, i have a very strong internet connection. What confused me is that it took the Backbreaker Demo 30 min to finish a 437 MB download yet it took me 13 1/2 hours to finish only 40 MB out of 1217 MB on the Cold Front. Fast for the Demo slow for the DLC.
Play station 3 uses the following:
Ethernet: (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T)
Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11 b/g
If you’re on a wireless set up in your house find out how many devices operate on the 2.4ghz frequency this can degrade signal strength as the range on both b/g set ups is approximately 125 or so feet so factor in the range from the hub and what is blocking signals.
The faster option is using a router with a 1000base-T or (gigabit network) since the transfer rates are solid and they are not affected by outside noise as much.
I use a net gear dual band wireless router that has legacy support for B/G as well as a 10/100base-t setup my Xbox 360/ Nintendo Wii and other devices (Phones, Printers, etc) share the B/G connections and my PS3 is hard lined to the router all of them can be running and downloading or using Netflix and never really have a issue. It’s pretty cheap and you can find similar routers for less
you didn’t mention your provider so ill recommend you do a speed test to find out just how your connection speed is affecting you downloads you can do this at
hope this helps let me know if you have any more questions.
