Judging by every store i went to were sold out (was trying to pick one up for my brother. Good thing Best Buy had one) plus i found 57 people in my area i'll say 300,000-500,000 day one.
Also mostly Wi-fi only models were gone but Best Buy were sold out of the 3g models.....weird....
I believe Sony said they would have approximately 400,000 to 450,000 available on launch day, I'm not sure if they included the first edition bundles in those numbers or not. The system is selling well it seems, but definitley not selling out everywhere, so I'd guess they will sell somewhere in the 300,000 to 350,000 range.
how big do you want? They only made 450,000 for launch and we all know they aren't going to sell everyone. I'd say them selling 80% of all launch units produced is an excellent number. They only sold about 320,000 with 500,000 units being available the first week in Japan and that was considered a huge success, the numbers have dipped since then, but the launch sales were great for Sony.
It was reported a few weeks ago they were distributing approximately 1 million units for launch day with 400,000 to 450,000 in the US, I believe Canada was getting about 250,000 and the remaining were going to Europe and other countries with a Feb 22 launch. It was in a podcast, I think IGN, but not 100% positive. Regardless though, industry analysts are saying if Sony sells 250,000 in the US it would be considered a very successful launch, so anything above that number would be excellent news for Sony.
1 million > 450000. Us <> The world. Nowhere did I say Us only. 250,000 for a new hardware launch in a country with 300 million is not a good start.
Canada with 1/10th the population of the US is getting that much? LOL, can't see that being correct. Doesn't even make sense.
Japan only sold 300,000 at launch and they are a game crazy country with well over 120 million residents. We are in a recession in the US, so 300,000 selling here would be a major win in this economy.
Umm no, Japan is the smallest market, The US sells 3 times as many consoles, even europe is bigger market wise then japan. If Vita only does 300,000 first week that's terrible and Sony has a lort of work to do. Not to mention the japan launch was bad with virtually No japanese games (JAck Tretton even said this) and the system cost more there then it does in NA>
