Just wondering, I plan on getting the PS4 but not until the rush is over, maybe in like 4-5 months

they'll make games for at least another year, but they will be games that went into production a year or so ago. Most games will be pushed onto next gen if possible, or both current and next gen.

Will be more than a year, the PS2 didn't stop production till this year and it is getting fifa14. The PS3 will have a long life well into the PS4 era, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my money. I'm kind of a collector anyway so it will be nice to have both.

A week, maybe 10 days.

I would say at least a year you will see a few titles.  They probably will drop the PS3 a little soon for cost purposes as the cpu (considering it is proprietary) might still be a little expensive to manufacture compared to a more traditional one.  And if they cannot shave much cost off and still make a profit then it may start slowing considerably in sales but who knows yet.  I do, however, expect most big games to make the jump to the new consoles for all future games after launch.  It can be expensive making for multiplat and adding in the 2 older consoles will surely cost considering the newer ones and PC are fairly similar.  And games will push customers to the new consoles and I am positive devs would prefer to make games for the new consoles instead giving the better performance.

I won't be worried because PS3 will still continue to have new games as long as Sony has support for the console, just like they did with the PS2 for 13 years. It will be a long time and I'm keeping it so I can play the oldest, modern, and future titles that I haven't laid eyes on.

At least 6 months to a year. Then, we'll see crappy cheap PS3 games made by little known developers. It happened to the PS1 and PS2, it will eventually happen to the PS3 as focus shifts mostly to the PS4. But yeah, for most of 2014 the PS3 should have solid games. My advice to any current PS3 owner that might buy or will buy a PS4, just keep your PS3 hooked up for awhile. There's still enough games to play for it.

This is the time in the program where everyone will say "Oh yeah, at least another two years". Electronic Arts however, has already said it has releases for the PS3 planned through at least 2017.

I know that many believe that once the PS4 is released, then the PS3 is going to explode ala Mission Impossible. It will not.

Indeed.

Not everyone will be moving over to the PS4 right away, some might even wait months to a few years to even make that change.

The PS3 still has a lot of life left in it, and they're releasing games on it next year, that won't be on the PS4.

The only reason I am hesitant to fully agree with this is that the PS4 should be much easier/less to program for than the PS3 has been.  I think we'll see an influx of games for the PS4 before we see the "cheap" games on the PS3.  Not a benefit, just a possibility.
