Well I've been here long enough to notice you people are self proclaimed know it alls that gang up on the people that come here for help and try to make them feel dumb. I don't care who the list came from. The blu ray drives are being bought in bulk, at $66 a piece? I don't think so. If you truly believe that, you've lost your mind. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that they get them at a discounted rate, much cheaper than the average person pays. Therefore I do believe Sony is getting a better deal on their hardware than I do.

These people deny everyhting now matter how factual it is really your only speaking to wise guys who are just plain annoying. No matter how truthful some is on a topic for example if there account was hacked there response is "Why did you give away your information"
, "Stop blaming the company!! forthwith..." going on about how they know everything simply cause they do research on there favorite platform for the fanboys they are really theres no getting by these people.

So we only pay $40 for a BLU Ray drive (Not blue ray) that Sony pays $66 for? I think not. Just because the internet says it doesn't mean it's true. Does it make you feel good to call random people stupid because they have a different opinion than you? Don't bother, I know the answer. Why would they sell it at a loss anyway? I think you need to step into the magical world of business.
The typical business model for gaming consoles is to sell it at a loss, and make a profit on the sale of games. It is the classic razor/razor blade business model. Eventually over time the console is able to be sold at a profit. Nintendo is the only company that tends to always sell there consoles at a profit.

5 years seems reasonable to me. At least near the release of the next gen. 3 years if you're rough on it maybe. But blu ray drives failing 6 months or less because of "dust" or "smoke" build up? My dvd player is fine. Actually my latest PS3 is fine, but my previous 2 were duds in under a year.
